New Nose

Hi guys! This past week has been... interesting.

I really hoped to blog a little during my hiatus but looking at a computer screen whilst being doped up on percocet was nearly enough to make me want to vom.

The procedure went really well. Believe it or not, it was a 95% positive experience. The nurses were super sweet to me and one was even feeding me sorbet right as I got into the recovery room because my throat hurt so much from having my tonsil lasered and dug into. The other nurses were joking around with me and letting me be, well, me, right before I went under (my coping mechanisms at their finest). They did their best at keeping me comfortable and they did a fantastic job. Maybe I could send them cookies or something.

The Bad:

1 - Right as I got to the hospital to check in for surgery, my mom's ex-boyfriend's daughter was standing right there at check-in and I almost wet myself. I just thought: holy shit if he's here (her father), I'm going to soil myself and go find the nearest object to throw at his face. He was a narcissistic DOUCHE. This was the guy who sent out an email to MY WHOLE FAMILY including my father (who was divorced from my mother) and stepmother telling them how despicable I was. Yeah, not one of the last people I wanted to see before I went under the knife. Thankfully, I didn't see him there. Didn't say anything to his daughter as she's just as big of an a-hole as he and I just kept keepin' on.

2 - Pain and nausea. I had many headaches and my throat hurt pretty badly for the first few days. A combination of not eating much and taking a few different meds really was enough to make me want to run for the toilet occasionally. Not fun.

3 - Couldn't bend over (or have balls fly at my face (there went my social life)). Still can't. Feel like I'll pass out if I do.

4 - Couldn't blow my nose. I know you're wondering why on earth I'd want to given the state of my nose but I swear to you, there are few more annoying things than having copious amounts of bloody snot coating your nostrils and hanging down your throat (sorry, sorry). You just want to get that crap out of there.

The Good:

1 - My boyfriend... oh boy. He was the best during the whole thing. He arrived Wednesday night and left Tuesday. It was really nice having someone there who knew what I was being given, how much and then could examine my meds after my procedure and help explain what they were and why I needed them and kept me on schedule. He made me every meal. Cleaned up everything. Yelled at me when I tried to do things I wasn't supposed to do like gently blow my nose. Kept me comfy. Snuggled with me 24/7 because that's all I want to do when I don't feel well. And he let me leave my bloody, snotty (again, sorry), gauze and tissues lying around because there was no way I was getting up to throw that shit away after I bled through each one - I would be constantly running to the trash. He also let me breathe on him, my horrible dragon breath I'm sure I had from not being able to breathe out of my nose for a week. Bless his heart. That's love, folks. I don't know how else you would know. When your boyfriend wants to kiss you despite your breath smelling like you ate a rotting corpse, that's when you know someone really loves you.

2 - No makeup for a week!

3 - Jammies all week!

That's about it. I'm glad it's over. It was nice not having any expectations of me for about a week. I was down for the count and there wasn't anything anyone could do about it - awesome.

I got my stints taken out of my nose this morning (gross awesome) and can now breathe out of my nose but still can't smell or taste anything and my top teeth hurt like a mother. Elliott: how long until this went away for you?

Hope you guys are well. Hope you're enjoying the last few days before break and I hope you have a very Merry whatever you celebrate.

xoxo
