Gym Day 1 and Boob Update

I did it. I went to the gym last night.

I came home, putzed around my house for a bit, stretched, talked to a friend, talked to a boyfriend and then moseyed on down to the gym and you know? It wasn't bad. It was pretty empty. I biked for about 45 minutes and then did some leg exercises for about another 20 minutes or so. I'm not as sore as I would have liked to have been today (maybe I'll feel it more tomorrow) so I should probably kick it up a notch moving forward and not just go through the motions of working out but actually get my ass in gear.

I have to say, my mood was immediately better after a workout. Maybe it was just because I was so proud of myself for actually stepping foot into a gym, and not to just go eat at the cafe and leave, but to work out. I really hope I can make going into a habit.

What is really beginning to worry me is the amount of sitting I'm doing. Sitting all day every day can, allegedly, take years off your life and I believe it. I'm getting like no exercise besides walking to and from metro and I just feel lethargic all. the. time. Cannot be good for my health, even if I'm not overweight.  It's definitely not good for my mental health.

Also, total side-note: I forgot to update you guys, who were so kind to leave me feedback regarding my lumpy boob. I went to the doctor to have it checked out. They're not positive what it is but they think it's probably just a cyst. It got smaller right after I started my period - a good sign - and seems to fluctuate in size throughout the month. I go back to the doc at the end of the month, will likely end up getting a mammogram since the lump isn't gone, but I'm optimistic - so are they - that it's nothing. I'm glad I went, though and they're also glad I came in. Moral of story: If something weird is going on with your body, don't wait. Just go get it checked out. You'll be glad you did.

  1. Good for you! I think once you get into a routine, it'll become easier and easier. Also glad you got the boob bump checked out -- better to err on the safe side, especially when it comes to lumps.

  2. Glad it's not terribly serious with the boob! And YAY for exercising! I'm a daily exerciser despite my very injured foot. My mood is 139489358 times better when I come into work having exercised first.... and exercise actually makes me less hungry. If only I didn't drink so much :)

    1. Well if you're going to drink at least you're exercising!

  3. Yay for going to the gym! Isn't it awesome how much better you feel after you go? Some days I totally dread it, but I always, always feel so good after. :)

I also have a desk job, though I get up a ton throughout the day. I can't sit for too long at a time, so I pop up whenever I can. It helps a little! I never, ever want to have desk job ass, LOL. Thank god for squats and lunges to counteract that!

    1. I'm so scared I'm getting desk job ass. That's part of my motivation to go to the gym. My underwear is fitting me strangely now and I think it's because I have a pancake butt. That's just simply not OK.

  4. Woohoo! Way to go! I agree on the sitting thing - when you work in an office it can feel like your whole life is spent sitting down!

And I'm glad it sounds like the doctor is giving you good news!

    1. I know, I just need to make sure I get up every once in a while. I hope you get good news at your doc, too!
